Rustic Chic Spring Wedding

When Trent and Lindsey met it was not all heart eyes and butterflies at first. They met on a plane that was owned by Lindsey’s friend’s family and Trent was their pilot. Lindsey’s best friend stayed in touch with Trent so they ended up seeing each other several times after that. Then a few years later Trent finally asked Lindsey on a date. They dated for 2 years before Trent popped the question on January 31, 2014.

On that chilly winter day, Trent and Lindsey were at the lake and decided to take a stroll after unpacking like they usually do. They were sitting at a picnic table enjoying the view when they realized it was 5:55pm. “Time to make a wish!” and yes, they still do this tradition. After they both made their wishes Trent asked Lindsey what she had wished for. To his excitement her response was, “to spend the rest of my life with you.” This set him up perfectly to ask her to marry him, so he got down on one knee and pulled out the ring! Once Lindsey realized what was going on, she gave him a big “yes!”

Trent and Lindsey wanted a rustic chic spring wedding look. The ceremony was held at the Perkins Chapel and the reception was at Times Ten Cellars. They used ivory, gray, greenery and pops of peach to give it a farm to table, industrial style. Lindsey loves lights so they used a lot of cafe lights and candles. It was simple and romantic.

The floral arrangements were done by The Southern Table.    dallas_wedding_planner_0128

Lindsey’s gown was designed by La Sposa and she purchased it at Patsy’s A Bridal Boutique. The gray suits and dresses really complimented the look of the wedding. The colors are very aesthetically appeasing.

Ben Q Photography did an amazing job at capturing all the lovely smiles and precious moments from this beautiful day for the couple to remember for a lifetime.

The delicious cake was baked by Sugar Bee Sweets; whom also baked the cake balls the couple chose as their party favors. The food that was served was done by Grace Cafe.

Entertainment for the evening was mixed and mingled by DJ Seth Bohlman.

dallas_wedding_planner_0129

Growing up Trent was always in love with the “velvet Elvis” that his parents owned, so as a wedding gift Trent’s parents gave them the coveted portrait of Elvis Presley in all his velvet glory. Undoubtedly there was great laughter and big smiles from everyone. What a fun and memorable gift!

dallas_wedding_planner_0126

Lindsey said her favorite part of the wedding was their first look. Trent’s favorite part was being able to sit down to have dinner and by themselves. It was the alone times where they really got to absorb the excitement and joy for that day and for each other.

dallas_wedding_planner_0134

The couple said that their wedding turned out just the way they wanted it. The wedding resembled them and their relationship which made the day so amazing. It was a blessing to work with these two love birds and to be asked to help them with this journey. It turned out wonderful! Thank you for letting us be apart of such a beautiful day as we watched you become husband and wife.

Fairytale House of Blues Wedding

Blind dates actually can lead to a happily ever after. At least that is how Jason and Briann ended up together! When they were set up on their blind date they thought that they had both blown it. It was not until a year later that they met up again for lunch and realized that they actually liked each other. After that they dated for a year and 10 months before Jason proposed. This proposal was highly thought out. Jason had created a scavenger hunt throughout all of Dallas. It lead Briann to their favorite and most memorable places. The last clue brought her to the steps of Dallas Hall at SMU where Jason was waiting to put a ring on it.

Their engagement lasted 21 months before they said their “I Do’s”. These many months were certainly needed with the amount of detail that went into this fairytale House of Blues wedding. They wanted a Alice in Wonderland meets Doctor Who theme. Oh boy did they pull it off! With the rich color palate consisting of deep blues and vibrant purples. They also used many metallic golds and silvers. The decor spoke wonders!

dallas_wedding_planner_0159

Briann’s wedding dress was designed by Jenny Packham which she purchased at Joan Pillow Bridal Salon in Houston, Texas. Her bouquet was made with broaches she had collected over time. All floral pieces were created by Dr. Delphinium.

The ceremony and reception were absolutely magical. Every detail was highly thought out. Briann hand wrote all their vows in a blue book as a gift for Jason. She also hand burned the numbers onto all the table placement numbers.

The cake and desserts were made by La Duni.  And they were AMAZING!!!

The photographer for their wedding was Amy Herfurth and the videographer was Laura Rowe. Both ladies did a wonderful job at capturing the beautiful moments and the amazing details of this fairytale inspired wedding. You can really feel the love that Jason and Briann have for each other through the pictures.

A unique addition to their reception was having a hookah lounge area for their guest to enjoy. There seats around the hookahs were extremely comfortable . This addition really made the guest feel like the characters from Alice in Wonderland. Rentals were provided by Fauxcades and the hookah rentals came from Cairo Hookah Lounge.

The entertainment for the evening was provided by DJ Jason Esquire. Briann said that her favorite part of the night was being on stage with Jason. She felt that at that moment they were in their own quirky world.

When Jason and Briann were announced at the beginning of the reception, instead of just walking out behind the rest of the bridal party, they jumped out of the blue phone booth prop. What a great surprise for the guest and a great way to bring in the Doctor Who aspect.

This beautiful couple was such a joy to work with. Briann had a wonderful, magical vision for their wedding. It was so much fun helping that vision come to life. Thank you both for allowing us to be apart of this crazy fun day. We hope you two have a wonderful life together.

Urban Wedding at 3015 at Trinity Groves

On a chilly day in February Stellie and Melissa locked eyes for the first time and passion swept through them… well, not exactly. It was more like volleyballs sweeping through them during their first match together. Stellie and Melissa met through the Champagne Volleyball League which they both played in. One day when they both had a match, Stellie’s partner did not show up. Melissa had just finished her game when Stellie locked eyes with her. In search of a new partner for the day, Stellie ran up to her and asked her to play with him for his match and he would buy drinks after. While finishing up drinks, Melissa realized she found a guy that could be a really good friend but Stellie, on the other hand, thought this new relationship could be something more.  Stellie got denied by Melissa three times before she asked him to accompany her to a friend’s wedding. Several dates later they fell in love and Stellie proposed in Las Vegas, to which Melissa replied with a ‘Yes!’

When discussing the wedding, they started out with an idea for it to be urban summer theme. Once they figured out their colors, everything else just fell into place. They both agreed that the colors majolica blue and warm olive were a perfect choice for their urban wedding. After a short engagement of just 4 months, they exchanged their vows and made their toasts at 3015 at Trinity Groves. The venue made their delicious cake as well.  Melissa’s gorgeous gown was designed by San Patrick and she purchased it at Lasting Bridal Couture.

dallas_wedding_planner_0140

Melissa says that her favorite moment of the whole wedding was having a first look with Stellie. It expressed that it was such a memorable and special moment that they two shared. She was nervous and excited to see him. It was much needed alone time before walking down the aisle.

dallas_wedding_planner_0137

Their floral arrangements from Fleurs de France really captured the colors and feel that the couple was hoping for. The center pieces were simple and modern. The photos were taken by the talented Harry from Harry Photo.

dallas_wedding_planner_0139

For the entertainment they had a violinist Richmond Punch, Ernestos mariachi band, and a DJ from ES Events. The violinist played during the ceremony while the mariachi band and DJ played during the reception.

dallas_wedding_planner_0136

Melissa and Stellie loved the dance floor. They said that it was a joy to see all their family and friends getting down to the fun music. Even Stellie’s grandparents were getting jiggy with it! Melissa said that she loved every song and every dance. They even had choreographed a mash-up for their first dance. How fun!

dallas_wedding_planner_0138

Stellie and Melissa withstood 3 large thunderstorms that wonderful day but the rain was certainly not going to stop them. They luckily got their first look done at the Magnolia Hotel minutes before the first down pour started. But hey, you know what they say, it is good luck for it to rain on your wedding day! We will take it! Stellie and Melissa were a joy to work with and it was an honor to be apart of their big day. We truly witnessed love as they became husband and wife.

Jennefer and Michael. Where to begin with them and their photography…

Their photos are flooded with beautiful natural light and capture the most intentional of moments that serve as precious memoirs for their couples.

We met Jennefer & her sweet husband, Michael, when working with them on a wedding from this summer. Her work from that wedding was absolutely stunning, to say the least. Jennefer & Michael brought such an awesome energy when photographing Jourdin & Chris’s big day. They had the whole group laughing and really brought out the fun & precious moments of that day, and the photos really showed for it.  You’ll be seeing this wedding when it hits the news stands this coming spring.

Not only are their photos gorgeous, but their hearts are even more beautiful, because it is what inspires their vision.

2014-10-29_0008

Jennefer & Michael currently reside in Dallas. Jennefer grew up in Midland, TX and Michael in the Houston area. Their journeys crossed four years ago, just as Jennefer landed her first wedding photography gig, Michael joining her.

Jennefer: “I received a call from our first ever bride on the Monday before her wedding when she called me in a hurry to ask if I would shoot my very first wedding. I was sitting next to my brand new boyfriend in his Ford Explorer, accepted the job and then proceeded to ask him if he would want to shoot it with me. Little did I know that that boyfriend would be my husband and that that last minute wedding inquiry would bloom into something we love and are so blessed by, that we both do it full time.”

2014-10-29_0001

However, photography wasn’t always in her plans. In fact, when she went to college she had plans of pursuing a music business degree but soon realized that God had other plans for her. Jennefer would then switch majors to Graphic Design, take a photography class as an elective, start getting hired to take portraits for friends and the rest is a beautiful history.

According to Jennefer, their style of work could once be described as simply being editorial journalists of their clients wedding days, but when Michael & Jennefer married two years ago, their view changed completely once Jennefer was on the brides side of the wedding spectrum.

Jennefer: “We do our very best to capture our clients wedding days through the eyes of the bride. Nothing shines as much at a wedding more than it does through the brides eyes. Her hair has never been more perfect, her gown more romantic, or her place settings more classic. Ensuring that the day looks as close to the bride and grooms memory is how we do what we do. This mindset keeps us so honest and intentional; I wouldn’t change our approach for the world.”

2014-10-29_0003

One thing that separates wedding photographers from others, are their inspirations, what inspires their work. If you know what inspires their work, you can understand their vision. If those match up with yours as a couple looking for a wedding photographer, then it can truly be a match-made in wedding heaven.

Jennefer: “I am inspired by kindness and joy. The sunlight on your skin, grass between your toes and a fall breeze are all reminders of God’s kindness. And to be completely honest, nothing inspires us or makes us love what we do more than a bride and groom who radiate that kindness and joy. The ones who love their family and friends so evidently, who take the time to care for and love on those people. They make our job the best in the world.”

2014-10-29_0004 2014-10-29_0006

Michael & Jennefer love a good journey. They love working with clients who aren’t afraid to dream with them!

Jennefer: “The brides and grooms who run with an idea and invite us on the journey, those are projects are the ones we live for and pray for more of.”

As a couple, choosing a photographer for both engagement and wedding day photos is one of the biggest decisions & emotional investments they’ll make during the wedding planning process. So, what is the best advice for couples looking to hire a photographer?

Jennefer: “My best advice for couples looking to hire ANY portion of their wedding team is to make sure they love the person behind the work. Especially in the case of photographers & videographers. There is no one who a bride will spend more time with on the day of their wedding, so it is IMPORTANT to love the people you hire! There is no better freedom on your wedding day then to be able to sit back and enjoy your day because you know in your heart that the people you hired love you and are more than able to make your wedding vision come to life.”

2014-10-29_0005

Aside from their photography life, Michael & Jennefer’s regular day is never complete without cuddles from their two golden retrievers, a homemade latte and snuggles on the couch while watching 30 Rock. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Jewish Summer Wedding at Cityplace Events

After meeting through mutual friends, Grant and Rachel went on to date, and 2 1/2 years later of Rachel’s healthy cooking that Grant loved to eat, he popped the question!

2014-09-18_0001

Let me tell you, the proposal was so sweet! When Grant took Rachel on a boat on Lake Travis in Austin, he led her to a banner overlooking the lake where their families were standing holding a banner that read, “Marry Me?”.

On August 2, 2014, Grant and Rachel married at Cityplace Events in Dallas, Texas. This Dallas summer wedding was stunning. Rachel wore a gorgeous gown by Maggie Sottero and her bridesmaids wore dresses by Dessy. How beautiful are they?

2014-09-18_0009

Before the ceremony, Grant and Rachel did a private first look. AutumnLight Photography and Lynn Films captured this moment and every moment of the day beautifully.

2014-09-18_0002

After some fun pictures were taken and guests were starting to arrive, the couple, their families and closest friends made their way to the ketubah signing where some laughs and tears were shed. It was the perfect start to a beautiful ceremony that followed.

dallas_wedding_planner_0031

For the ceremony, a beautiful soft harp, played by Laurel McConkey, greeted guests and led the wedding party down the aisle. She was phenomenal.

2014-09-18_0007

After the ceremony, the guests where greeted with a delicious cocktail hour. They sipped on red and white wine, and crisp sparkling water with lime. They also ate yummy hors d’ oeuvres consisting of mini chicken burgers, mushroom risotto and beef potato wheels.

dallas_wedding_planner_0032

Once the cocktail hour ended, guests entered a gorgeous reception in the Cityplace Events Loft. Rachel really loved the look of a soft romantic color palette consisting of white, ivory, blush and gold. She really wanted something timeless and sophisticated. Magic Moments did a fabulous job with the floral and lighting to really capture her vision. What a stunning combination for a summer wedding!

2014-09-18_0008

2014-09-18_0011

For their first dance, Grant and Rachel chose “How Long Will I Love You” by Ellie Goulding. Such a beautiful song for a first dance.

2014-09-18_0014

After a delicious dinner, it was time to cut the cake! How gorgeous is that cake? Rachel wanted to surprise Grant with a special cake of his own.  A tried and true UT Longhorn fan and basketball lover, “Team Cohen” commenced. Panini Bakery truly did an amazing job on both of them.

dallas_wedding_planner_0033

2014-09-18_0015

After the cake was cut it was time for the Hora!  Guests spun Rachel and Grant all around and then everyone danced the night away to music from LimeLight the Band!

2014-09-18_0013

2014-09-18_0020

As the night came to an end, guests gathered outside to bid farewell to the sweet couple with fun ribbon wands. We love this unique alternative for a departure!

2014-09-18_0018

When asking Rachel about her favorite moment of their wedding day, she said, “It’s hard to just pick one moment that was my favorite. I loved seeing Grant for the first time, seeing our vision come to life and dancing with all our family and friends.”

2014-09-18_0019

Rachel, Grant and Family, it was an absolute pleasure working with you and getting to know over the past year.  You have such a special and close bond.  It was a privilege to be a small part of your big day. We couldn’t be happier for you and wish you a lifetime of happiness together!  Mazel tov!

Dallas Fall Wedding at CityPlace

Jannie and John’s beautiful fall wedding day started with a traditional tea ceremony.

 20131109-tea-amykarp-1178

20131109-tea-amykarp-1053

After the tea ceremony came to a close, it was time to get ready for the ceremony! Jannie gave all of her bridesmaids personalized button downs to wear while they got ready. What a great combination of cute and practical.

20131109-wedding-amykarp-1079

Of course, you can’t start getting ready for your wedding without first bringing out the bubbly!

After Jannie and her maids were all ready to go, complete with makeup from TC Makeup, she walked down the aisle at the beautiful CityPlace venue in Dallas. Their ceremony was officiated by none other than Marty Younkin from Love Notes.

 20131109-wedding-amykarp-1265

20131109-wedding-amykarp-1339

The reception, which also took place at City Place, was absolutely stunning. Just look at that ceiling!

20131109-wedding-amykarp-1412

Jannie and John chose a navy and burnt orange color scheme, which are both of their university’s colors. All of the beautiful flowers and arrangements were provided by Haute Floral.

20131109-wedding-amykarp-1429

It seems like they really enjoyed what they saw when they got to see their reception space for the first time! Looking back at her reception, Jannie noted that, “At one point in the night, while we were sitting at our sweetheart table we looked out at all of our guests and saw that everyone was talking to one another, smiling, laughing, having a good time, enjoying the food and music, décor.  That is all we ever really asked for – for everyone to have fun.” And fun they had!

 20131109-wedding-amykarp-1466

The Cake Guys created beautiful cakes for both Jannie and John.

20131109-wedding-amykarp-1418

While Jannie chose a traditional white cake that fit in perfectly with her theme, John’s came was created based on his alma mater, the University of Texas at Austin. Hook ‘em horns!

20131109-wedding-amykarp-1424

After the cake was cut, it didn’t take long for the party to get started! Music from LeForce Entertainment quickly got all of the guests on the dance floor.

 20131109-wedding-amykarp-1674

The beautiful pictures are courtesy of Amy Karp Photography. Isn’t she talented? While Jannie and John chose to opt out of having a videographer record their special day, Jannie later expressed that “we probably would have reconsidered hiring a videographer”

20131109-wedding-amykarp-1198

Now that their wedding day is over and they’ve settled into married life, Jannie and John say it’s good to relax without worrying about wedding planning, and it’s so great to finally be married!

Traditional Summer Wedding at The Adolphus Hotel

Dallas Wedding_Perkins Chapel_Adolphus Hotel_The Creative Touch_Events by Lauren-0025

Raquel & Christopher’s traditional summer wedding, which took place in June 2013 on their one year wedding anniversary, was a perfect combination of tradition, elegance, and romance. Their wedding was beautifully photographed by The Mamones.

Dallas Wedding_Perkins Chapel_Adolphus Hotel_The Creative Touch_Events by Lauren-0015

Their ‘I do’s’ took place at Perkins Chapel at SMU, a personal favorite of ours at The Creative Touch Events.

Their reception was a short distance away at The Adolphus Hotel in downtown Dallas, and it was breathtaking to say the least.

The gorgeous hydrangea centerpieces from The Garden Gate were reminiscent of puffy white clouds on this beautiful summer day, towering high above the tables.

Dallas Wedding_Perkins Chapel_Adolphus Hotel_The Creative Touch_Events by Lauren-0020

Guests dined to delicious food catered from The Adolphus Hotel, and for dessert, a beautiful cake from Fancy Cakes by Lauren. It was almost too pretty to cut! But after guests had their first bite, they were sure glad they did.

Dallas Wedding_Perkins Chapel_Adolphus Hotel_The Creative Touch_Events by Lauren-0019

It was very evident how in love Raquel and Christopher are, and how much they enjoyed their special day. When asked about her number one piece of advice for other brides is, she said “I would [hire] a wedding coordinator – even if it’s just for the wedding day. We just recently went to a wedding where the bride did all of the work and just seeing how stressed she was on her wedding day really made me sad for her.”

So, with the stress of wedding planning off of their shoulders, Raquel and Christopher were free to dance to the music from It’s Your Night Entertainment with all of their guests.

Dallas Wedding_Perkins Chapel_Adolphus Hotel_The Creative Touch_Events by Lauren-0028

“The Newlywed Game” added some fun and good laughs for Raquel, Christopher and all of their guests. The DJ would ask them a series of questions like “Whose the best cook?” or “Who is more messy?” and they sat back to back and either raised a bow tie or a bouquet. It was funny to see the answers they chose when they knew the other person couldn’t see!

Dallas Wedding_Perkins Chapel_Adolphus Hotel_The Creative Touch_Events by Lauren-0027

The night came to a close with their last dance, surrounded by their closest friends and family members. What a magnificent way to end a night they’ll never forget!

Summer Wedding at Omni Park West

We had the opportunity to work with Brea & Crystal for their modern red and white summer wedding this June at the Omni Park West in Dallas.  After dating for five years, Brea and Crystal were so excited to tie the knot, and Crystal says that she feels “truly blessed to be marrying my best friend and the woman of my dreams.”

 IMG_1818

The ceremony was very personal with a beautiful white and red backdrop, and included a sand ceremony with their daughter Kaila. The three of them exchanged vows, and Kaila was presented with a special token from Brea and Crystal during the ceremony.

IMG_1999

The Texas sunshine provided us with some beautiful summer weather, and the beauty of their wedding was further enhanced by their flowers from Magic Moments.

IMG_1929

As well as being absolutely scrumptious, the cake from Delicious Cakes provided an elegant backdrop for the event.

IMG_2285

Although all of the aesthetic touches were lovely, Brea and Crystal told us about what truly made their day so special for them:

“What made our wedding day special was seeing our friends and family there genuinely happy and ready to celebrate us as we embark on a new journey.”

 IMG_2432

Guests danced the night away to music from Entertainment Solutions, LLC, starting with Brea & Crystal’s beautiful first dance together as a married couple. Of course, their first dance included their daughter Kaila.

 IMG_2187

While it might seem that planning a wedding can be stressful, Crystal’s piece of advice to other brides is “I would definitely not stress as much over some things.  Besides that, there is nothing else that I would change about my wedding day…it was perfect!”

Tracy Nanthavongsa snapped these gorgeous photos we are sharing with you.  All in all, it was an amazing day.  Congratulations Brea & Crystal!

A Southern Vintage Wedding at The Room On Main

Natalie & Aaron’s southern vintage wedding at Perkins Chapel and The Room On Main was so much fun to plan.  Their quirky personalities and love for one another brought so much joy to this special occasion and Natalie’s mom was truly their cheerleader of support and encouragement every step of the way.

 image-87  image-43

The couple attended Oklahoma University where they had been friends for a while until one night Natalie asked Aaron to her annual date party.  They were inseparable from that moment on.

 image-38  image-35

Two years later, Aaron planned an engagement that Natalie would never forget.  After taking her to dinner, he walked her to her car & handed her an envelope, which would begin a scavenger hunt of clues that would eventually lead her to her ‘Happily Ever After‘.  Aaron had been a mascot for three different teams in Oklahoma and had each mascot waiting with four red balloons to give to Natalie when she arrived to three of the four locations. Her first location was the Library where they first met with Routie from the Tulsa 66ers. The second location was O’Connell’s where they had their “first spark” with Dozer from the OKC Yard Dawgs.  Natalie’s third location was the tree where Aaron first told her he loved her with Volt from the WNBA Tulsa Shock.  Finally, her final location was the OU Tack & Field where Aaron was anxiously awaiting her arrival with friends & family hiding in the stands.  Marry Me” by Train was playing in the background and when she arrived Aaron read the significance of what each grouping of the balloons meant.  He asked her to marry him on bended knee and right as she said “Yes!” their friends and family jumped out screaming & shouting.  The ring flew out of Natalie’s hand and everyone hurried to find it.  Aaron bent down on his knee & asked her again.  This time, making sure the ring was on her finger.

 image-52    image-49image-54

Their wedding was just as creative and special.  Pops of blue, coral, green, lace, burlap and butterfly accents filled the room.  Handmade N’s & A’s were placed on each table with monogrammed birch vases.  Every table had its own unique vintage elements that added interest for guests’ eyes to view.

 image-42

image-41  image-40

To no surprise, everyone was full of bubbling energy.  As soon as the glow necklaces came out, the crowd filled the dance floor and never sat down.  Of course the night wouldn’t be complete without mascots, Boomer and Volt making a surprise appearance.

 image-64

As the night came to an end, guests lined the walkway waving ribbon wands adorned in their wedding colors.  In a sweet gesture of love, Natalie’s parents surprised them with a vintage Bentley for their departure.  They drove off into their new journey as husband and wife and have continued the fun and love ever since.
